Introduction
The establishment of the Chinese Language Center at Chihlee University of Technology marks an important milestone in the university’s active response to the global trend in education and the Taiwanese government’s promotion of international Chinese language education. The Center was officially founded under the College of Commerce and Foreign Languages in the 1st semester of Academic Year 112 (2023), carrying the mission of promoting Chinese language and culture and enhancing international cultural and educational exchange.
With “practical teaching, cultural integration, and holistic learning” as its core principles, the Center is dedicated to helping students from around the world improve their Chinese proficiency and become talented individuals with international mobility and cross-cultural adaptability.

Geographical Advantage
The Chihlee Chinese Language Center is located in Banqiao District, New Taipei City, an area with a highly developed transportation network.
- Extremely convenient transportation: Within walking distance to Banqiao Railway Station, the High-Speed Rail Station, and Banqiao MRT Station (three-in-one hub). It is very convenient to reach downtown Taipei or other cities.
- A space for cultural and daily-life immersion: Banqiao is home to the Lin Family Mansion and Garden, cultural events hosted by the New Taipei City Government (such as the Christmasland festival), and a variety of local foods and night markets. The Center views these living environments as extensions of the classroom, enabling students to apply “daily-life Chinese” in real situations.
Professional Faculty and Comprehensive Course Design
- Professional, leveled small-class instruction: Instructors hold professional Chinese teaching qualifications and possess international experience. Small classes and level-based teaching enhance interaction and individualized guidance.
- Diverse courses integrating listening, speaking, reading, and writing: Courses include daily-life conversation, business Chinese, cultural reading and writing topics, and TOCFL training to clarify learning goals.
- International achievements: Most students can communicate fluently in Chinese and successfully pass intermediate-to-advanced TOCFL levels, establishing a strong foundation for further studies and global careers.
Immersive Experiential Learning
- Regular cultural activities: Including Chinese calligraphy, traditional festivals (such as making rice dumplings or writing spring couplets), Taiwanese tea culture, local exploration, and food tours, allowing students to deeply appreciate Chinese culture.
- Thoughtful support services: Assistance with visa applications, daily-life guidance, registration support, and more, ensuring that students can learn with peace of mind.
Promotion and Exchange
- Planning and conducting Chinese courses for international students and foreign residents (intensive programs, short-term programs, summer camps, winter camps).
- Hosting Chinese language exchange activities and competitions for international students.
- Offering teacher training and certification programs for Chinese language instructors.
- Assisting the government with overseas Chinese education, promoting Chinese language and cultural teaching, and developing related teaching materials.
- Collaborating with the Office of Continuing Education to provide commissioned training programs from government agencies or domestic/overseas institutions.
